In celebration of Fat Tuesday, I indulged in a carmel frap from Starbucks.
Do I really want to know how much FAT is in one of these?
No, I do not.
I am not Catholic, but am pondering Lent and what it means.
Catholic buddies, got any thoughts on this one?

For me, the Lenten season is a time for spiritual reflection as we await the celebration of our Lord's resurection on Easter Sunday.
During past Lents, I typically would "give up" something important to me as a small sacrifice so that when the urge to partake of that item hit me, I would turn to prayer to fortify me instead.
This year I plan to be less indulgent in all earthly things and pray more on a daily basis.
so many look at this time with sadness and a longing for their sacrifice. i look to growth in my relationship with god. i look to my sacrifice as a means to that growth. i rarely give up tangible stuff. i give up the things that create distance between me and god, like fear or judgment. those are much harder to focus on because they are the things in our go-to box when dealing with this world. we know where they're stored and they're easy to use.
i meditate on christ and his life.
i pray without ceasing.
i read the word.
and at the end of every day, i take stock of where i am.
it can be painful and difficult to acknowledge our failings, but this season brings with it restoration and good news.
