I think they did, but things weren't perfect. Which I think is what made the day perfect.
We had a few no shows, which always happens. We had plenty of food. Plenty. In fact, one of our nieces boyfriends walked into the kitchen, saw the spread, and said, "That's a lot of food!"
Thank you!
I cook like my Omi and tend to have too much. My sis-in-law helped out too and brought two different cheesecake pies that were very nummy.
The best part though was watching the little kids play. They ran up the hill. They ran down the hill. I purchased bubbles for the little ones and that was a great ice breaker. They played under the cedar tree, which every single child in this family has done since this farm was established forty-five years ago.
The laughter! Oh it thrilled my soul! I didn't say a word when they trampled my flowers. Who cares! They were just flowers and they will always come back.
We went on a rock dig too. When I was cleaning off the patio a few weeks before the BBQ I found my children's rock collection. Obviously Boy and Girl have moved on so I dumped the rocks off to the side of the driveway. It was perfect, because three little kids, with sandwich bags, "discovered" agates and fools gold.
Priceless fun!
Auntie Ann wins!
Truly a lovely, lovely day. But we missed Soldier Mommy and her sister. We missed the uncles. Of course, we missed Mom too.
All in all, it was a good day and I can't wait to do it again!
Me and Sis-in-law
Beloved, FIL, and Brother-in-law
The C Man!
The cousins minus three (we sure missed those three!)

Soldier Mommy here! I sure wish I could have been there with my boys! Only nine more months till I'm home. In the meantime, I'm in Mississippi with swine flu.
How much fun that had to be!
I miss my family...
What a great blog. You are so poetic and touching. I can literally see the kids running up the hill.
Beautiful.
