Things That Make Me Happy

Yesterday I didn't have to work. However, I did have a class. I rolled out of bed at 5:20 got Beloved out the door at 6:30, blogged (I know, shocking!), showered, got pretty, and headed out the door. I arrived five minutes early and found an empty classroom. Hmm...Phoned daughter and had her look at my class schedule only to discover that the class, unlike every other class I've taken, started at 1:00 instead of 9:00. Shucks!

Thankfully, the university is right down the street from a store that has whole Foster Farms fryers on sale for 79 center per pounds. I felt like I won the lottery as I scooped up my three cheap birds and noted that their cousins, the turkey legs, were also 79 centers per pound. Hurray! Cheap meat!!!!

That makes me happy.

As I drove home I phone my BFF Teri and told her about the turkey legs (I like to share the wealth!) and reminded her that I am still indeed an Idiot Girl and that I had arrived too early for my class. She said, "Wanna meet for coffee?". Now, I haven't sat down with my BFF or any of my BFF in ages, so you know I jumped at the chance.

That too made me happy.

Later, I drove back (wasted gas on the first trip did not make me happy) to the university and attended my class. These are classes set up to help non-profit charities, ministries, etc. make the most of their resources. Last month I attended a grant writers class and came away with soooo much info. They are fabulous and I learn so much. This makes me valuable to the ministry that I volunteer for. It gives me tools to help them succeed.

And that makes me happy as well.

Part of attending the class is mixing it up with the other organizations that are there. Yesterday, I met the executive director from Africa New Life Ministries. Their goal? Rebuilding Rwanda. Cool huh? Theirs is a life building ministry with a heavy focus on education for women and children.

There is a possibility that the ministry I work with might partner with Africa New Life to make a difference next year in Rwanda.

This totally rocks my world and yes, I'm happy about it.

What made you happy today?

Today seems to be a day of special women taking positive steps: you with WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY and my friend @ 7kidsandadog finally looking at herself and acknowledging she deserves certain pleasures in her life (http://7kidsandadog.blogspot.com/2008/10/me-and-what-i-deserve.html)

WAY TO GO GIRLS!!!!

Okay, that is weird. I don't think we've ever blogged about the same stuff before.

I jumped for joy when I saw my old comments page on my blog. This morning, everyone was able to comment but me. This is equivalent to stuffing cotton in my mouth. Argh! Thankfully, the problem seems to be solved.

Blessings,
Susan :)
