In all honesty I cannot think of a single topic to blog about. So, I'll blog about ten things I've been thinking about.
1. My mother. It always happens around this time of year. I start thinking about my mother. Since my Omi passed away I have no one to send a card to. I wonder what would happen if I sent her a card. From past experience I believe we would cycle down the same dreary road which would end with me being ticked off and her being suicidal.
I think I'll forgo the card sending again this year.
2. Dandelions. Honestly. I think we should use them as a biological weapon against our enemies. You simply cannot kill them. If we loaded plane loads full of them we could drop them over unsuspecting countries and they'd be so busy trying to get rid of them, they wouldn't have any time to stir up trouble.
3. Speaking of other countries. I think we need to stop supporting every.single.country. on the face of the planet and pull our resources back into the good ol' USA. Remember when we were a country of industry? We could be again. Just sayin'.
4. Tonight I am cooking Swai. It's a fish. Don't be afraid. It's something new and new is good!
5. Which leads me to think of our upcoming vacation! We have tickets to see Allison Krause in concert and are going to stay at Villa Columbia Bed and Breakfast.I am so looking forward to this fun time with my Beloved, only I'm worried about our old doggy Sam. He doesn't seem himself and I wonder how he'll do on his own for a couple of days. Not that he'll be "alone" since my good friend The Giver will be here looking after him. It's just that he's soooo old and soooo unlike himself. Poor old thing.
6. And then there's the whole new bonding thing that will take place at my new place of employment. There's a whole cast of characters over there with new names to learn. They don't know how funny I am and I'm certain I'll just come off as a dork. Uggh. I hate the dork stage of a new relationship and I miss my girls from the old gym. They thought I was funny and laughed at all my stupid jokes. Now I'll have a whole new set of folks to train in Idiot Girl humor.
7. Be seein' ya girlfriends! Another one of my old friends quipped how she never sees me. She said she'll have to get on Facebook to see what I'm up to. She said, "You know, you can all me sometime. Even if I'm not in town, my phone rings..." Gulp. I'm a bad friend.
8. And speaking of relationships, Girl is still guarding her phone number and Boy is still mooning over a girl in his church. Both situations make me crazy. Girl keeps getting asked for her phone number. She is still rejecting those who ask, but I wonder about that one guy. You know the one. The one who is funny and dorky like Girl is. But Girl isn't sure he's serious enough about faith and such. Sigh. Then Boy's situation is maddening because I want to fix everything. I want this girl who is so young, so sweet, and so not ready for a relationship to BE READY. Of course, I'm keeping my GREAT BIG MOUTH shut on both fronts.
(Boy/Girl if you read this....I didn't mean anything and I have no opinions as to what you should do...honest...stop laughing...I do too mean it....)
9. I need to find the perfect housewarming gift for Soldier Mommy who just purchased her first home. I'm so happy for her but cannot decide what to get. A gift card seems so lame, but she's a shopper and I'm certain she has everything she could possible need. Suggestions?
10. I can hear the ice cream truck as I sit here and I think it's weird that it's running so early in the year. For heaven's sake, it's pouring out there! And just now I realize that I have never bought ice cream from a truck. Never. I find that kind of sad.

The Catch-Up
I am very sad to report that Beloved caught no fish. Not a single one. And he was gone all stinking day!
What?!
Oh well, such is the way these things go. I would like to point out that he could have actually saved money if he'd gone to the grocery store and simply purchase a salmon. Just sayin'.
On Sunday we moved Boy into his very first apartment. While he hasn't lived at home since he was seventeen, he has always lived in a communal atmosphere. This time, he's on his own. It's a little surreal to realize that he has his own place. Man, am I old.
Girl spent yesterday hiking with that guy. You remember, he's the one that her mother turns into Mrs. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice every time his name in mentioned. He's a nice kid. Good family. Great job. Sadly, after spending the day with him yesterday Girl has decided that they are not on the same path. Sure, he's funny...but apparently there is more to life than funny.
Who knew?
This week marks the end of a journey for me. I decided, after much thought and prayer, to leave the gym I currently work at. I'm moving to another location in hopes of learning managerial and owner responsibilities so that one day, God willing, I'll own my own little Curves gym. I'm so scared and so sad to be leaving where I've worked for the past two plus years. I'm going to miss my peeps and the familiarity of it all.
The fun part of this move though is the new challenges that it will bring. The club I'm moving to was a dying club. They hadn't turned a profit in months, perhaps years. The new owners have shown promise and have made great strides in the last four months. I'm excited to bring my expertise and my enthusiasm to this new group of ladies. There is great potential here and a lot of work!
Of course, I'm worried that I've made a poor decision. All the what if's plague my mind. I'm just trying to remember what my long term goals are and push ahead.
Tomorrow I'll be catching up with a blogger friend from years ago. We became friends through a old blogging site (now defunct) and when I was down her way we met up. She's a sweet lady and I'm glad for the opportunity to catch up with her.
Today, however, is my day off. I've got house cleaning to do and phone calls to make. I suppose I best get to it!
Oh, and today is my 600th post.

Randomness
It's the day before the day.
I'm not allowed to eat today.
I've cleaned the house, done the laundry, made meatballs, made a pot roast....yeah, why am I cooking when I can't eat any of it?
I have no clue.
I downloaded new music to my ipod. It couldn't be a more random mix of songs.
Santana, Train, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, and Bruno Mars,
Red jello tastes like heaven when you are on a liquid diet.
I spent two hours at the salon yesterday. Let's just say I will look smashing as they wheel me into surgery.
Weird, I know.
My cat snores. So does my dog. As does my Beloved.
My Girl road public transportation for the first time all by her lonesome today. She survived and so did her overprotective mother.
Essh.
It's a beautiful, sunny day at the end of January. That's random.
I did a little shopping therapy yesterday. Because I needed to.
And I'm feeling a sense of peace. It's got to be a God thing because I wanted to throw up all day yesterday.
I also gave those vampires more blood yesterday. Only, the "professional" who drew the samples left me with an aching arm. That has never happened before. Me no likey.
They wanted to run a pregnancy test as well.
Sent me into a fit of hysterics. Seriously, it would take an act of God for that to happen and since it ain't happened in eighteen years, I'm pretty dang certain it ain't a problem.
This picture makes me smile.
That is all. Unless I think of or do something random later.

And Then it Died
My Beloved has a lot of great talents.
Fixing a computer is not one of them. I admit that as our computer began to fail that I tried a few little tricks that I know. None of them worked. I was ready to call in the geek squad but Beloved thought he'd give it a go.
It didn't go so well.
As I sit here, at the library computer, I cannot help but wonder what possessed my hammer and nail husband to think he could tinker with the complex inner workings of technology neither of us truly understands. I'll just chalk it up to it being a "male thing".
There's a lot going on with Christmas and all that. Boy is in India and truly loving the work he is doing, the sights he is seeing and the food he is eating.
Girl is all ready for college to begin in January. Now if they'd just tell us whether or not she's gotten any financial aid, that would be great.
I've a got some health things going on...and I really don't care to discuss them, but would appreciate any prayers you throw my way.
Until my next library visit or our computer is repaired, I bid you a very, very Merry Christmas.

Amusing List
So, because I have to go to the laundry mat (even though the washer and dryer are now sitting in the garage), to the doctor (because I've waited weeks for this appointment and I am NOT cancelling it),and to work (because let's face it, Annie's got to pay the mortgage) I am posting an email that a friend sent me.
My favorites from the list are number 4, 9 and 14. What are yours?
My favorites from the list are number 4, 9 and 14. What are yours?
1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.
5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blu-Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.
14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.
17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?
20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!
21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
22. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.
24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.

Lessons from the Laundry Mat
Y'all know I love me a laundry mat...NOT! But, it is a necessity seeing that we swapped our washer and stove for a treadmill. Believe me, we got the better deal. And just think how fabulous Beloved and I will both look once we actually get the silly thing over here and start using it!
Anyway, since I am void of a washing machine, I have located the nearest LM and have become fast friends with the owner. His English isn't great, but man does he keep a clean LM!
Today, since I detest sharing the LM with strangers, I managed to get in the door at just a little after 8:00 am. The place was empty. Happy, happy Annie! I loaded my machines and settled in to re-read one of my favorite books. The television was on, but I decided to ignore AM Northwest.
We don't watch TV. We rebelled against the government, mandatory, digital age. Okay, not really, we just opted not to buy a silly little box that would sit unused because we honestly don't watch that much TV. We have Netflix and the Internet. 'Nough said.
But I found myself at least partly listening to those gleefully happy morning talk show hosts. Why, I was amazed at the things you can learn! I listened and found that most people now meet their "mates" online. Shocking! Can it be true? You can honest to goodness hook up with some stranger and find love everlasting ONLINE? Who'd a thunk it.
More importantly, why oh why would you? Don't most people know that pedophiles and murders lurk online? Chat rooms are akin to playing Russian Roulette! Haven't they heard that song about being So much better online?
Soon after, I learned that my skin is really showing it's age. In fact, at the rate I'm aging....I'm sure to be fifty with fifty year old skin! Some. Day. Soon! Those talks show hosts, in their earnest and passionate way, reminded me that NOW is the time to fight aging; that I can TURN back the clock.
Sadly, I am now in possession of a mortgage....so farewell ageless, beautiful skin.
Sigh.
After the AM talk show I was treated to a game show. Now, it has been years since I watched a game show and apparently, I am indeed smarter than everyone on that show. I knew all the answers. I was engaged. I was right and I was totally sucked in to that program, yelling (in my head of course) at the idiot contestant because she truly did not know Richard Rodger's was the composer who not only won an Emmy, a Grammy, a Tony and an Oscar, but he also won the Pulitzer.
What do they teach these kids in school these days? I'd really like to know.
I think I should quit my day job and work the game show circuit.
On second thought, I think I lack the personality of a game show contestant. Firstly, if I know the answer, I just blurt it right out! I don't have to dribble around bits of information as if I am searching my very soul for the answer to who was the first woman to run for President.
It's Victoria Woodhull in case you didn't know.
Secondly, I'd look huge on TV. Tis true. The camera adds pounds you know and just between us, I have enough already!
That, and my parents would probably see me and sue me for all my winnings. It's just how they roll.
The LM is such a delightful place. I learn so much. For instance, did you know that it is perfectly acceptable to wear your PJ pants to the PUBLIC laundry mat? True. And did you further know that it is nearly mandatory that you bring small children and let them run laps around the machines?
So many lessons and so little time.

Things You Don't Know
And really didn't want to! Ha!
I can touch my nose to my knee during a hamstring stretch.
I didn't think my husband was all that good looking until I saw him on our wedding day. Don't get me wrong, he was okay looking, but when I saw him standing at the alter...my thought was, "I win!"
I prefer large dogs to small. Tiny dogs are like little rodents and serve no purpose.
And speaking of dogs, when I went out this morning to feed FIL dog Mia and our dog Sam, I noted that Mia has a HUGE, baseball sized lump on her throat.......
I have a birth mark that my mother told me was a coffee stain. Seriously.
I don't know as much as I pretend I do. But I know more than you think I do. Ha!
I always hoped that I was adopted and that my real parents would show up and claim me. I still do.
I had an invisible friend named "Goober" when I was little because my older, half-brother wouldn't play with me.
I have been published in several magazines and earned about $25.00 for my venture.
I currently have sitting on my desk vanity: a Darth Vader head filled with candy, a retro 70's slinky (the metal kind), a fisher price tiny plastic person from my childhood, a tiny, yellow, plastic Indian, a tiny grow kit for basil, red nail polish, and pink baby booties.
As of right now I have 1 hour and 15 minutes before I have to be at work.
Gotta run!

Ten Things

I found this, I don't remember where, writers prompt about "ten things I never knew until I became a mom". Since my "official" mommy days are drawing to a close, this some how seems fitting.
1. I had no idea that I could love so much. Truly. I would, without hesitation, die/kill for them. Yeah, I know that last one isn't a very "Christian" attitude, but you do NOT want to hurt one of my babies. I will take you down.
2. I did not know that when Boy got his first grades from college that I would feel as if I had accomplished something. I suppose this is vindication for all those years of homeschooling. I didn't mess him up! Hurray!
3. That I was so opinionated when it came to raising children. Esssh....
4. I didn't realize that there would be days that I felt like I was bashing my head into a brick wall.
5. I had no idea that the words of my psycho mother would indeed escape my mouth regardless of how hard I tried to not sound just like her. I cannot begin to tell you how much I hate that part of me.
6. I did not know that by becoming a parent that I would be humbled by little beings who were far wiser than their years. The two of them have shown a maturity and an understanding of the world around them that has often left me astonished and a little embarrassed at my own ignorance.
7. Becoming a parent change the way I looked at my husband. Oh sure, I thought he was the bee knee's and all that, I just didn't realize that he would become a most excellent father. He was the type of father who took his boy to men's breakfasts and prayer meetings so that his boy would know how to be a man of God. He was the man who built and then sat at a tiny tea table to have tea parties with his little girl. Not that he was perfect, not that he didn't have to grow into his role, but I have to say that I was surprised and delighted to find myself married to such a man.
8. I didn't know that I would never get my pre-baby body back. Sigh...
9. I did not realize that I would forever put someone else's needs/wants/desires before me own...and really not mind. This would explain the state of my underwear and socks.
10. Mostly, I didn't know that by becoming a parent that there would be two people who would influence my life/my thoughts/my values in so short a time.
How has becoming a parent changed you? If you are not a parent, how do you think your life will change if you do become one?

Seven random photos
I wish I was in this place with this guy...

I learned to make Chicken Scallapini in 2009. Thank you Pioneer Woman!

I am missing this soldier and praying for her safe return.

Boy! He's opening for a local band tonight. Rock on!

Girl! Our home is filled with music.

This face makes me smile.

Seven Random Thoughts
We need an emergency plan in case something terrible happens here.
I just bought milk...why are we nearly out?
W-2, the tax man cometh!
Why is it so darn cold in here?
I just realized that nearly everyone I know makes more money than I do.
I cannot wait to watch reruns of LOST.
Hello? God? Are you there? It's me...Annie...
What was lost, has been found, and I am thankful.

Ponderings of a Woman MY Age
*I was given some shimmery lotion. It's called, Falling in Love and it smells pretty good. Not too sweet, not too powdery, but light and fresh. Yet, I wonder...It leaves a shimmery, sparkly glow on my skin. I look like I've been dipped in a vat of fairy dust. Is this bad?
I mean, for a woman of MY age to look something akin to Tinker Bell? (okay, the comparison stops at the skin...)
*My sassy, short haircut is causing me to be...well...kinda sassy. I like it. I like it a lot and it's really affecting my attitude. Snicker. Is this a good thing for a woman of MY age to be so flippant. So witty. So happy?
*Is it wrong for a woman of MY age to like the quiet? It's 7:02 and Beloved has left for work, Girl is still sleeping soundly, and Boy has returned to camp. The cat is sawing logs on the piano and even the cows are at peace this morning. Is this wrong?
*A soft, warm rain is falling outside my window. I want to sit outside on my pretty patio and drink tea while wearing MY BATHROBE. What if a neighbor stopped by? Mornings are not nice to a woman of MY age.
*Beloved is having a medical test next week. It's something a woman of MY age should expect for the man she has lived with for twenty-two years. Thoughts of living without him (aside from the quite) make me sad and teary.
*There are four tiny play people on my desk. One I've had since I was a child and is an original Fisher Price little people. Two of the others are Dora the Explorer (whom I'd abhor) and the other is some cheap knock off that we purchased so that there would be a "dad" in the original Fisher Price house that I still own. My great-niece saw them while she was attending the BBQ on Sunday and wanted to know whose "toys" those were. When I confessed that they were mine she cocked her head to the side and narrowed her greenish-blue eyes and said, "Naw it not." I suppose it was difficult for her to wrap her head around a woman of MY age possessing toy people.

*Is it wrong for a woman of MY age to squeal with joy? I'm just asking.
*When I hurt my back and questioned the doctor as to why this had happened (after all, I work out, I stretch, this isn't supposed to happen) he said, "Welcome to your forties..." which translates, loosely to, "A woman of MY age should expect such things."
*What does a woman of MY age do when an attractive, YOUNG man flirts with her at the grocery store? In case you do not know the answer, I laughed and came home and told Beloved to watch it!
*Is it acceptable for a woman of MY age feel good about herself, her life, and not give a rip about what others think?
Yeah, I thought so too.
So witty. So happy?

The Truth Is: Take Two
The truth is I cannot, for the life of me, come up with a blog topic for today.
I considered writing about the toothpaste that dribbled down my chin and onto my perfect BLACK shirt leaving a ghostly white spot that will not scrub out with water.
I drove Girl to camp where she has been working since Monday. She has 8 days left. Heaven help us.
The truth is, Girl is NOT a morning person and has been getting up at 6:00 am ON HER OWN! I had no idea she had it in her.
I was going to do more yard work today, but decided to be lazy instead.
I worked-out yesterday for the first time since the ouchie back and today I did Pilate's. The back is minorly ouchie.
The truth is, and I know at least one of you will snicker when you read this, I watched Michael Jackson's daughter's speech. Poor, poor lamb.
I did NOT watch any of the rest of MJ's memorial service and I'm still baffled by the media frenzy.
I have a new cake recipe thanks to PW. Italian Cream Cake coming to a blog near you...soon.
I still haven't found a dress for Girl and the ball is Saturday. Where is a fairy godmother when you need her?
The truth is I'm sitting here drinking a diet Pepsi, freezing, and wondering why I didn't put sock on this morning. It's a whopping 56 degrees outside. It's July. JULY!
The truth is I could probably sit here and ramble on about nothing for a very long time, but I think I've killed enough of your brain cells for the time being.
For more enjoyable reading, please visit my friend Travis Erwin and learn why lettuce is the devil.
Or in case you are having a pity party and would like to read about how much worse life could be visit friend Teri and read about the summer of FAIL.

More Truth Is...
The truth is...I like to sleep until around 9ish, but I get up at 5:30 every, stinking, morning. If I try to sleep in - the phone rings, FIL makes a bunch of noise, or the idiot cat tells me I've over slept. Sigh.
The truth is...I make my Beloved lunch nearly every day. When he doesn't eat it and goes out to eat instead it ticks me off.
The truth is...I don't have time to write this blog today and yet, here I am.
The truth is...sometimes I forget to give grace to others.
The truth is...I really don't like Mother's Day.
The truth is...I miss Teri and I'm devistated Mary is moving.
The truth is...I have plants to plant and no time to plant them.
The truth is...my toenails are painted pink, but I seldom wear shoes with open toes.
The truth is...you really don't care about any of this, do you?

Things I Learned Last Week
1. The first season of LOST is (eyes wide) a m a z i n g! Yes, I realize there are now FIVE seasons of LOST, but we just decided to give them a go with our Netflix subscription (no commercials - gotta love that!).
2. If you think you'll have time to get alllll your work done because it's Friday - think again.
3. I met a woman WHO IS JUST LIKE ME! Seriously! Our Beloveds share the same birthday, our birthdays are in the same month, both our mothers are psycho, and she's got a wicked, snarky sense of humor...Holy cow! Oh the trouble we could get into!
4. While flipping through the coupons (oh, how the mighty have fallen) I found one for condoms...ha ha ha. I can't stand the mental image of some dude at the check-out counter with a coupon for those! ha ha ha...
5. My cat may very well be possessed.
6. There is such a thing as a perfect bra. More on this later!
7. Swallowing a bug is NOT a crisis situation.
8. You can go to the grocery store in your slippers (and no one will notice).
9. Freaky, earthy, tree-hugging girls like compliments too.
10. Sweet potatoes make a huge, sticky mess in the microwave.
11. Hulu.com may be the next best thing to peanut butter.
12. Walnut-Pesto Talipia is NASTY! Take me at my word!

Do I Still Have a Blog?
Yeah, I know it's been pretty darn quiet over here.
Busy you know.
Busy
Busy
Busy
I still have a few others to give awards to. I still have to tell you about the lessons I learned this week. I still have to post the recipe for Beloved's birthday cake (I make it from scratch every year for his birthday and dahling, it's to die for).
It looks like my friend Kat will be going home tomorrow! Hurray and thanks so much for your prayers for her.
Not a single word from friend Mike. Scary. Keep praying. Utah is a long way from Oregon so it isn't as if I can hop in the car and take them a meal.
Girl and I are house sitting for The Giver. Her family has driven North to see their girl. The best thing about being in their house? It's warm! Praise the warmth! The worst thing? Ummm...geee....can't think of one.
I'll try to get a real post up tomorrow. Ya'll sleep well.

7 Random Things
About a week ago (sorry Susan) my fellow blogger and Christian writer, Susan J. Reinhardt tagged me to write seven random factiods about me. I told her I'd get to it...so, I'm gettin' to it!
1. When I was a child I use to pretend that I was adopted. It didn't matter that I am the spittin' image of my parents. I just knew I had other parents somewhere, out there. Imagine my disappointment when they never showed up to claim me. Sigh.
2. My senior year of high school I decided I wanted to be an actress but I told everyone I wanted to be a business lawyer cause that's where the money is.
3. I have three brothers: One I don't speak to, one I speak to/see twice a year and then there's the Golden Child. The kids call him, "My sister" because that's how we role. I always wanted a sister. Little did I know "she" would be 6'1, handsome, and live such a soap opera life that I'd wonder why I'd ever want one in the first place.
Just kidding. He's the bomb and the only one I'll confess to be related to these days. Yet, I do wonder about the cowboy pic below. Trust me, I grew up with this dude, he's about as much of a cowboy as I am. ROFL! Gotta love those concrete cowboys!

4. I have a birthmark on my leg that my mother convinced me was a coffee stain. Maybe that's why I like coffee so much!
5. I have mutant toes (according to my husband). The two toes closest to my big toe are the same length as my big toe. I was just fine about it until I met him. Now I'm a little self conscious about them.
6. I cry, like a girl, over sad movies, books, commercials, songs, just about anything. I hate it. I honestly do. But I am in good company because the Golden Child does too. One year I gave him a birthday card and told him NOT to read it in front of everyone. He did. He cried. Later that night he called me on the phone, crying because he'd read it again. Awwwww.
7. I steal my daughter's ear-rings to wear on a regular basis. She's none to happy about that.
You wanted to know all that, I can tell. Especially the mutant toe thing (eeww!). This is just the type of quality, informative writing you find at this blog. You love it, you know it, so stop rolling your eyes!
In the spirit of good sportsmanship I tag: Amy Sweet and Kiva. Get writin' girls!
