If You Want it Done Right...Hire it Out.

For some time now I've wanted to overhaul my blog. I don't like the way it looks. I don't like how little control I have over it. It bugs me that I'm too lazy, too stupid, too tired, to learn html and do it myself.

Off and on I have attempted to create a banner. Sadly, I am a kinestic learner, so reading directions does nothing for me.

So, here I am, confessing my stupidity and asking for help.

Ya'll know a good, cheap, web-designer?

And in other news...

Oregon has instated several *new* regulations making if harder for illegals to obtain a drivers license. Cool huh? However...there are many fine citizens whose parents brought them here from other countries and who only possess a birth certificate from foreign soil. True story.

My father-in-law was born in Canada, along with all his siblings. When he went to renew his drivers license on Monday, his OREGON drivers license which he obtained over fifty years ago, he was told he could not renew because he did not have enough proof of citizenship. He was told he would need to bring in a birth certificate, passport, or green card. I know you'll be surprised to learn that A) his birth certificate is from Canada, B) he has no idea where it is, C) you need a birth certificate to get a passport, and C) he was slightly (ahem) insulted that he would need a green card since he's lived here for more years than he can remember.

He threatened to move back to Canada (I was in mid celebration when I realized he was kidding)...moving on...

Because he gets bogged down in directions and the Internet (with its vast wealth of information) remains a mystery to him, he's in a bit of a pickle. What's a guy to do but hire an outside source. See, if you want something done, hire it out. Especially if you can hire family, pay them nothing, and still treat them like used tissue when you're finished. Oh heavens not me! He didn't ask me, he conned, I mean, he asked his sister for help.

Speaking of hiring work out...

You may recall that we made some home improvements over the years. We are nearly finished with the ceilings. I say nearly because only the living room has been textured. The kitchen is still waiting to be sanded, textured and painted. It's a huge job. I know this because I am the one who did the children's bedrooms, the bathroom, and the living room. Sanding makes a HUGE mess, as does texturing. Can't I just hire this done and then hire someone to come in and clean my house afterwards?

The problem with hiring work out is that you have to be able to pay for it. Unless you can con some family member to work for your lukewarm, heartfelt thanks.

Sadly, none of my relatives work for those type of wages.

Sigh

When you find a good web designer, please let me know! I'm equally inept at html. (And truthfully, it's a miracle I figured out how to start the blog and publish posts!)

I think I need a blog makeover as well.

I highly recommend www.TekemeStudios.com. They re-designed my blog, and I'm very happy with them. They're also quite reasonable.

I found them through author, Mary DeMuth. They often have contests and coupon, so check them out. (Go to their blog. That's where they posts contests.)

Blessings,
Susan :)
